Engine Detailing Tips & Tricks:

CLEANING THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT

Before you begin: Check to see if any caps are missing. Cover any exposed areas so that water will not penetrate. If the hood area has insulation, vacuum this area and be careful not to get it wet. If no insulation is present, clean this area just as you would the engine compartment. Remove all loose debris (i.e. leaves, twigs, etc.) and hose off excess dirt.

Method of application: Use a trigger sprayer to spray Malco Prizm Degreaser throughout the engine compartment. Be aware of sensitive areas that should be avoided (i.e. sensors, etc.). Allow a few minutes for the degreaser to penetrate the grease. Use this time to clean the door jams and hinges. Use a brush for stubborn dirt, flush with water and dry with a clean towel. Next, hose off the engine compartment (use a pressure washer if available) and inspect for any remaining grease. Once the engine is clean, blow dry the area with a compressor if available. Use a pistol sprayer to apply Malco Prizm Water-Based Dressing or Malco Clear Dressing over engine compartment.

NOTE: It is highly recommended that you do not use solvents in the engine compartment.
